Bruichladdich Octomore Edition 16.3 is the terroir expression in the Octomore 16th annual series — a 5-year-old Islay single malt peated to 189.5 PPM, distilled from 100% Islay-grown Concerto barley from Octomore Farm two miles from the distillery, matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and Pedro Ximénez casks, and bottled at 61.6% ABV without chill filtration or added colour.
The 16.3 is the most site-specific expression in the Octomore 16th series — the barley grown on Octomore Farm on the Rhinns of Islay, just two miles from the Bruichladdich distillery. As the terroir expression, the 16.3 demonstrates what Islay-grown barley — kissed by salty sea spray in the field — contributes to the Octomore character beyond the distillation and cask programme that the 16.1 and 16.2 explore. The PX cask component adds the intensely concentrated dark fruit and sweetness of Pedro Ximénez sherry to the 189.5 PPM Islay peat base at 61.6% ABV.
