Havana Club Añejo Clásico is a smooth, oak-aged rum carrying the heritage of a brand the Arechabala family founded in Cuba in 1878 and trademarked in 1934.
The Havana Club name traces to the Arechabala family’s Cuban rum-making business, which became one of the iconic brands of Cuba’s Golden Age — a favorite of locals and of the American and European visitors who filled Havana’s nightspots from the late 1930s through the 1960s. This Añejo Clásico is distilled and aged in Puerto Rico under the Caribbean sun, matured one to three years in oak barrels, then blended and rested a second time in oak for at least three months.
That double-aging yields a smooth, velvety rum with a well-rounded tropical-fruit character. It works neat or over ice and makes an easy, flavorful base for classic rum cocktails.
