The GlenDronach 15 Year Revival is one of the most sherried Highland single malts available at its age statement — matured in a combination of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration, and named “Revival” to mark the reopening of the distillery after a period of mothballing from 1996 to 2002.

GlenDronach is situated in Aberdeenshire in the Eastern Highlands, and its distillery character is built almost entirely around sherry cask maturation. The 15 Revival uses both Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso casks — the PX contributes the sweeter, more intense dark fruit and molasses character, while the Oloroso adds the drier, nuttier complexity. The combination at 15 years produces a whisky with genuine richness: dark cherry, chocolate, and a Christmas cake spice profile that is difficult to achieve without this level of sherry cask commitment.

Non-chill filtered at 46% ABV, the Revival retains its natural colour and full texture. Browse the full GlenDronach collection at Wooden Cork.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does “Revival” mean in the name?

The Revival name marks the distillery’s reopening after being mothballed from 1996 to 2002. When GlenDronach resumed production and began releasing age-stated expressions under its current ownership, the 15-year was named Revival to mark that return.

How does GlenDronach 15 compare to Macallan 12 Sherry Oak?

GlenDronach 15 is older, bottled at a higher ABV (46% vs 40%), non-chill filtered, and uses both PX and Oloroso casks — making it darker, richer, and more intensely sherried. Macallan 12 Sherry Oak is more polished and refined. GlenDronach 15 is the better choice for drinkers who want maximum sherry character.
