Westward American Single Malt is brewed and distilled entirely in Portland, Oregon — Master Distiller Christian Krogstad’s expression of the Pacific Northwest, drawing on Oregon’s deep craft-brewing culture to produce a rich, ale-driven American single malt.
Westward begins where few whiskeys do: as a fermented ale. Krogstad applies brewing techniques and ale yeast to a 100% malted barley base, then distills and matures the spirit in new American oak. The approach — closer to a craft brewery than a traditional distillery — is what gives Westward its signature depth, layering creamy vanilla and brown sugar over lush fruit and sweet malt.
Bottled at 45% ABV, it is built for slow sipping neat or over a single large cube, where its brewing-driven complexity and oak character show best.
